AHIP Certification or Compliance Training: Which One Should You Take?
As you gear up for the upcoming 2021 Prescription Drug Plan year, that means getting Ready to Sell. If you plan on selling Mutual of Omaha Rx Prescription Drug Plans, you will need to complete three important steps, to be considered Ready to Sell. The first step is getting contracted with Omaha Health Insurance Company. Step two, which sometimes appears to be a bit confusing, is to take EITHER the AHIP Certification course OR the Mutual of Omaha Rx Compliance Training course. The third and final step is completing the Product Training course. Once all three steps have been successfully completed, you are Ready to Sell.
So, let’s cut through the confusion regarding step two. We have outlined below some important information to help you determine which course of action you should take.
Why are there different courses available for step two?
Based on feedback we received over the last two selling seasons-we have create a solution to accommodate brokers who choose to ONLY sell Mutual of Omaha Rx Part D Prescription Plans for the 2021 plan year. For those brokers we have created a Compliance Training course as an alternative to taking the AHIP Certification course.
For Agents Planning to Sell Multiple Carrier’s PDP Product
You MUST take the AHIP Certification if you plan on representing MULTIPLE carriers, including Mutual, and selling those carrier’s Part D Prescription Drug Plans. This annual certification course meets the requirements established by CMS. If you choose to take the AHIP Certification course through Mutual of Omaha, you can access the link on SPA, and receive a $50 discount when you complete your training using this link. If you completed your AHIP certification with another carrier. you can transmit your certification to Mutual of Omaha.
For Agents Who Plan to ONLY Sell Our PDP Product
You have two options:
- You may take the Mutual of Omaha Rx Compliance training, instead of the AHIP Certification; or
- You may take the AHIP Certification itself.
In either case, you need only take one or the other. The Compliance Training course is specific to Mutual of Omaha Rx’s PDP plans and does not act as a certification to sell any other carriers’ PDP plans
Don’t forget, no matter which course you complete, you still need to complete the 2021 Product Training Course, the final step to be Ready to Sell.
